History
De Waalstraat in Amsterdam is named after the river Waal, following the tradition in the Rivierenbuurt of naming streets after Dutch waterways. The street was developed in the 1920s and 1930s as part of architect H.P. Berlage’s Plan Zuid, renowned for its Amsterdam School architecture.
